Non-Asbestos Gasket Sheets (often called CNAF—Compressed Non-Asbestos Fiber) are high-performance sealing materials developed to replace traditional asbestos jointing. They are engineered by blending synthetic fibers, minerals, and rubber binders under high pressure to create a safe, durable, and chemically resistant material.

1. Composition: The Modern "Ternary" Blend

Unlike asbestos sheets which relied on a single mineral fiber, non-asbestos sheets are a complex composite of three main components:

• Fibrous Reinforcement: Typically Aramid (Kevlar), carbon fiber, glass fiber, or cellulose. These provide tensile strength and heat resistance.

• Elastomeric Binder: Usually NBR (Nitrile), SBR, EPDM, or Neoprene. The rubber determines the sheet's chemical compatibility and flexibility.

• Fillers & Additives: Inorganic minerals (like clay or silica) that improve heat stability and reduce cost.
